Braces

Braces

Braces have come a long way, with options that are now more comfortable to wear and easier to maintain than ever before. Braces are commonly recommended by orthodontists for more complex problems, when a removable 'plate' is not sufficient enough to correct crooked, crowded teeth or jaw placement issues like overbites and underbites.

The goal of braces is to straighten the teeth, improve the smile, correct the bite and improve problems where speech, biting or chewing problems are an issue. Straighter teeth are also easier to keep clean and healthy.

The ideal time for braces is between 11 and 16 years of age, when all the adult teeth are present, however, braces aren't just for teenagers. People over 20 now make up for around 25 percent of all orthodontic patients in Australia.

We would recommend calling one of our friendly team on (08) 8945 4844 if you have any questions about braces.

Looking after your braces

Once the braces are on your teeth, it is essential you look after them. The better you do your job, especially tooth brushing, the nicer and cleaner your braces will look and feel, but also, if your gums are healthy, the faster your teeth are likely to move. And of course you don’t want straight teeth with holes in them!
